The PS5 is almost impossible to find. That was the case during the pre-order; That was initially the case; And I expect it to be good after Christmas. While stocks may stabilize in late January, there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait a few months to pick up Sony’s new console before taking it to any electronics store.
The good news is that You don’t really need a PS5 right now, At least if you have a PS4, or a comparable gaming system. However, while I don’t recommend dropping everything for the PS5 right now, the fact is that the PS4 is coming out, and console gamers will have to update sooner or later. If now is not the right time to buy a PS5, when will it happen?
While everyone’s individual case varies somewhat, we can try to pinpoint the “best” time to buy a PS5 based on three main factors: game selection, hardware, and price. And, naturally, if you really, really want a PS5, then this is the best time to buy one. “As soon as you can get a risk”
PS5 Game Choice: When It Comes
When “How many games make the system right?” Everyone has a different threshold when it comes to. For some, a system seller is enough (those system sellers are accidentally demon spirits); For others, there may be a dozen specific title thresholds, so why upgrade otherwise?
I don’t think there’s a right or wrong approach here, but I’d say my own thumb rule is “three games I can’t get on any other system.” Right now, the PS5 doesn’t meet those criteria. It has only two truly exclusive titles – Astro’s Playroom and Demon Souls – and one of them technically came out on the PS3 more than a decade ago.
My own thumb rule for buying a new console is that it “needs three games that I can’t get on any other system.” Right now, the PS5 doesn’t meet that criterion.
Looking ahead to the next few months, we are scheduled to meet Return, Deathloop, and Recht & Clink: Except for Wright in the first half of 2021. We have more poorly published dates for other exclusions, such as God of War and Ragnarok, Ghostwir: Tokyo and Final Fantasy XVI, but it is at least possible that they may come out in 2021.
Then there’s the issue of cross-gen games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Yakuza: Dragons. While these games play very nicely on the PS4, there’s a good chance that cross-gen games will start to pick up next-gen consoles sooner rather than later. We’ve already started to see these disparities with titles like Cyberpunk 2077, and performance differences are likely to become even more noticeable over time.
We have the exclusion of the PS5 right now, as well as what we are preparing to get in the next few months, it looks like March 2021 will be the time to seriously consider buying; By June, there should be no real reason.
PS5 bugs and problems
One reason I would advise against buying a console at launch is due to hardware issues. They are not always present, but are often difficult to determine when they are. Think back to the red ring of death of the Xbox X360 – or more recently, the PS5 as well. Unconscious rest status issues.

So, should you wait two whole years before buying a PS5 – until there can be a smaller and / or cheaper redesign? Well, maybe – I’m not a big fan of the current look of the PS5. But it’s also worth remembering that Red King was an incompatibility in game consoles and these systems are usually very solid.
My recommendation is that it be given six months to see if any additional issues are cut, and see how Sony pays attention to those issues. While this does not inherently teach anything about timelines, it is at least a long time to estimate the real-world impact of the system at that time and see if anything is harvested. That would put the “ideal” time to buy the PS5 in May 2021 – when its game library would become even stronger.
PS5 Price: Will It Come Down?
If you’re delaying a PS5 purchase because you’re waiting for a price break, I have bad news: consoles rarely drop in price during their first year on the market. Maybe if you hold on until next Christmas, you might get some sort of discounted bundle, but this might be a pack-in game or an additional controller – no make-or-break price difference.
As such, the standard PS5 is expected to be at $ 500 in 2021, and the PS5 Digital Edition is expected to be at $ 400. (Of course, it is possible that the digital edition will prove to be less popular than its disk-enabled counterpart, in which case Sony may offer more discounts on smaller devices. But at least for the moment, it is impossible to keep both models in stock.)
While that’s part of the cop-out answer, it’s also true: the price of the PS5 isn’t likely to change in 2021, so it shouldn’t be a factor in your decision one way or another. If you want a more significant break in prices, you have to wait until 2022 or later.
When to buy a PS5: Outlook
Since price is not an issue and the choice of game is largely based on personal taste, I would say that the initial time to buy a PS5 is March 2021 – and if you really want to run on the field you have to wait until May or June. Of course, you can try to find it quickly, but you can manually run the wall working with incompatible retox and greedy scalpers.
Alternatively, you wait another year and see the prices go down. If 2022 revolves around and you still can’t find the PS5, something terrible will have gone wrong.
