The College Ledge Football .Lo playoff selection process and controversy go together, but the New Year’s six bowls featuring teams on the outside usually offer more exciting games. This was the position this season and the Katton Ton Bowl between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 7 Florida, could be the best game of all, as it combines two teams that should be a great matchup for each other. The Suners are one of the hottest teams in college league football, with seven winners and a top-10 defender in the last few months. Gators, meanwhile, have the crime of passing the best of the country with weapons across the region.

Oklahoma is looking for its first postseason win since the 2017 Sugar Bowl against Ub Burn. The Suners have reached the playoffs in the last three years but have lost each time. He hopes to win his third straight bowl under Florida coach Dan Mullen, as well as being in the top 10 of the rankings at the end of his third season.

Surprisingly, these two historically related programs met only once before this match. It was back in 2009 when Tim Tabo and Urban Meyer took the Gators to the Orange Bowl over Sam Bradford and Bob Stupps in their most recent national championship. Will the Gators get another win over the Sunners in Texas? Let’s take a closer look at the matchups and storylines that followed before making some expert straight up and against spread.

Storylines

Florida: For both the regular season and the Bowl games, the Opt Out has been a big part of the 2020 season. You could argue that the tight end in the team is no better option than Kyle Pitts. In just eight games, Pitts averaged 70,770 yards – about 100 yards per game and 18 yards per catch – and 12 touchdowns. That was the textbook definition of mismatch for defense. He has a chance to be a first-round NFL draft pick, however, so it makes sense to leave early and leave the bowl. Caderius Tony has emerged as a legitimate WR1, but he is also out. There are also Trevon Grimes and Jacob Copeland. Who will be the impact pass catcher in this game?

Oklahoma: The Sinners defense has advanced strongly in the second half of the season, but Florida will be the hardest offense ever. Ok Clahoma has a good balance of passes with defensive linemen Ronnie Perkins and Isaiah Thomas, linebacker Nick Bonito. At the rear end, Trey Brown and Brendon Redley-Hills are playing tight coverage on the defensive back. Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has done a great job of turning the corner from this defense. The key to victory is to slow down Florida’s elite passing attack and get pressure on quarterback Kyle Tresc.

Florida Gators +7.5

Florida is about a field goal favorite. The real test is whether Oklahoma can pull off a win if his defense is on challenge. Aggressively, Oklahoma is still good, but a little less consistent compared to the past year. Running Ramondre Stevenson back will be crucial to controlling the game. Yes, there will be points, but enough should be done to keep things from getting out of hand in Oklahoma’s defense. It may even be enough to get a complete win. Pick: Oklahoma +3 | Oklahoma 37, Florida 34
