Florida police search for missing child’s mother found wandering alone

The mystery deepened Tuesday in the case of a boy found wandering alone in a dirty diaper in Florida.

Thirty-six hours after finding the baby, Miramar police said Monday night that the baby’s mother was missing and that they were “concerned for his safety and well-being.”

“She was last seen driving a white Chevy 3500 (mid to late 1990s model), with a maroon or red tailgate and a ‘Baby on Board’ sign in the passenger window,” they said.

Police said they believe the boy’s mother is Leila Cavett, 21.

An Alabama woman, Gina Lewis, told Fox 7 Miami that Cavett is her sister. She said the boy is Kamdyn, Cavett’s 2-year-old son.

“That’s my nephew, 100%,” Lewis told the station.

She said she was relieved that the boy was safe, but expressed fear for her sister, who had been living in Georgia and has no connection to Florida.

“She never mentioned us about going anywhere,” Lewis said, according to the station. “As I was saying, we are in the middle of a pandemic, so I don’t understand why you would take an impromptu vacation to Florida.” . “
