Phase two of the Florida reopening is ongoing. The following is in effect:

  • Restaurants can now allow bar-top seating with appropriate social distance.
  • Bars and pubs could originally operate with 50 per cent capacity inside and full capacity outside, as long as appropriate social distance is followed. However, the state has imposed a temporary ban on liquor sales at bars as COVID-19 cases increase, forcing many bars to close.
  • Retail stores can now operate at full capacity with responsible protocol of social distance and sanitation.
  • Gyms can now operate at full capacity with appropriate social distance and frequent sanitation.
  • Entertainment companies, such as cinemas, concert halls, auditoriums, playgrounds, bowling alleys and arcades, can work against 50 percent with appropriate social distance protocols and sanitation protocols.
  • Personal service companies, including, but not limited to, tattoo parlors, acupuncture agencies, tanning salons, and massage companies may operate under the guidance of the Florida Department of Health.
  • Pari-mutuel betting facilities may submit a request to reopen to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The request must include a supplement from their provincial mayor as provincial administrator if there is no mayor.

Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach – these are the counties most severely affected by coronavirus in Florida – will initially remain in phase one. When they are ready, they can seek approval from their provincial mayor as provincial governor to enter phase two.

Coronavirus can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth, including when an individual coughs or sneezes. These drops can land on objects and surfaces. Others may contract the virus by touching these objects or surfaces, then their eyes, nose or mouth.

As mentioned earlier, symptoms of the coronavirus include fever, cough and shortness of breath. They can be seen in as little as two days or 14 days after exposure, says the Florida Department of Health. Most people recover from COVID-19 without special treatment, but the elderly and those with underlying medical problems are more likely to have serious illness.

If you experience symptoms of coronavirus, you should contact a local health organization and make them aware of your condition prior to arrival, while also following specific instructions as well as guidelines they may have.
