Fitbit’s sleek Sense and Versa 3 watches could finally have a built-in GPS

  • Fitbit’s upcoming Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches seem to be leaking.
  • They would both include GPS, and the Sense could add ECG as improved heart rate detection.
  • An Inspire 3 would also improve Fitbit’s basic fitness tracker.

Fitbit may not have been able to create its own products despite Google’s planned purchase. De WinFuture team claims to have leaked details and images of Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 3, and Fitbit Inspire 2 wearables, which may include some outdated features.

Both the brand new Fitbit Sense and the Versa 3 have symbols that indicate likely support for built-in GPS. Unlike the Versa 2 and many other Fitbit devices, you could then walk or bike without having to bring your phone for position data. GPS has been around for a while on the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch, but this may still be welcome if you are deep into the Fitbit ecosystem or just have a preference for its approach to fitness.

There is also a heart symbol on the Sense that suggests it may have ECG support, or at least some form of improved heart rate detection. Both watches appear to have heart sensors. ECG is again not a novelty in the smartwatch world (Apple has been using it since 2018), but it would be useful for recognizing heart problems.

In addition to the possible upgrade for heart monitoring, the Sense would represent a new, relatively premium model line with metal construction and a more rounded case. Both this and the Versa 3 are said to have new, simpler ways to switch bands.

The features of the Inspire 2 are not available, but it may have a simpler design than the original Inspire and will likely stick to basic fitness tracking.

There are no indications about release dates or prices for these wearables. However, given that the Versa 2 was released roughly a year ago, we would not be shocked if one or more of the rumored offerings from Fitbit soon appeared. The company may not get another chance to re-release products like this – if the deal goes through official Google review, Fitbit’s next projects could easily change focus.
