Final results of WWE Extreme Rules: Rey Mysterio loses an eye at PPV 2020

WWE’s Extreme PPV Rules have come to an end. While the focus for many people may be Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio, where someone’s eyes were ripped out of the basin, the show closed with a cinematic experience. Braun Strowman fought Bray Wyatt in a swamp, and it was delightful. Nicknamed “The Horror Show”, Extreme Rules had some surprises and you can see the final results below.

Open a Mountain Dew and do a kickflip on a guardrail because it is Extreme Rules. Unlike what was considered “extreme” during the 00s, this event had some crazy stipulations, seeing competitors hitting each other with guns and more. This year’s event was rated “The Horror Show”, so fans expected the unexpected.

The PPV took place at the WWE Performance Center in Florida, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to stop performing in arenas in front of thousands of fans. Depending on where you live in the world, this show will air at a reasonable time or very early in the morning. Check out the start times below.

Start time:

  • 4 pm PT
  • 6 pm CT
  • 7 pm ET
  • 12 AM BST (July 20)
  • 9 AM AEST (July 20)

If you are looking to see the event again, you will have to register on the WWE Network. The streaming service allows users to watch old episodes of Raw, Smackdown, and more, including PPVs. Plus, you can stream PPV live, and it’s honestly the best way to watch them, as you’re paying $ 10 a month compared to $ 35 and up for PPV.

The party card was interesting, to say the least. Either Rey Mysterio or Seth Rollins will lose an eye in the Eye for an Eye Match, something that GameSpot fighting partners find very silly. Braun Strowman will face Bray Wyatt, not the Demon, in a swamp battle near the Wyatt complex. Additionally, there are numerous title games throughout the night. Take a look at the match card below.

Party card:

  • Kevin Owens vs. Murphy (opening show)
  • New Day vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura – Draw match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship
  • Apollo Crews (c) vs. MVP – United States Championship
  • Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins – Eye for an Eye Match
  • Bayley (s) vs Nikki Cross – Women’s Smackdown Championship
  • Asuka (c) vs. Sasha Banks – Raw Women’s Championship
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler – WWE Championship
  • Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt – Wyatt Swamp Fight

Below are the final results, and if you’re looking for something else to add to your life, check out the GameSpot Wrestle Buddies weekly podcast. Every week Mat Elfring and Chris E. Hayner talk about the fun side of the fight, from silly tricks to their favorite PPVs. In addition, they occasionally interview fighters. New episodes arrive every Thursday and you can watch them on Spotify, Stitcher and Apple Podcasts.

Kevin Owens vs. Murphy (opening show)

As usual, if you put Murphy on the Kickoff Show, you’ll get a great game, and putting him in the ring with Owens was a great move. It set a great tone for the rest of the PPV.

Owens wins by pin at 8:53.

New Day vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura – Draw match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

Fans chose the stipulation for this match, and it’s a great choice. Kofi slammed into two tables outside the ring, which was exceptionally satisfying. It was a great looking finish. Also, we now have new team champions with Cesaro and Nakamura. Hopefully this dispute reaches Summerslam.

Kofi passes a table at 10:20.

Bayley (s) vs Nikki Cross – Women’s Smackdown Championship

Each competitor had his ally outside the ring. Solid match with a predictable finish.

Bayley sets Cross at 12:21.

Apollo Crews vs. MVP

Apollo Crews will apparently not defend its United States Championship now, as it has not been cleared by doctors. MVP arrives in the ring with Bobby Lashley, and MVP is declared the United States Championship due to the loss.

Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins – Eye for an Eye Match

A really weird combination that focused heavily on two men trying to pluck each other’s eyes out with plumbing tools. In the end, Rollins withdrew Mysterio’s eye hitting his face against the stairs. After seeing the removed eye for himself, Rollins vomited all over the place, and the camera focused on him for too long. This was very silly.

Rollins wins at 17:47.

Asuka (c) vs. Sasha Banks – Raw Women’s Championship

A very strange ending in which Asuka accidentally spits out the green mist at the referee, then Banks hits Asuka with the belt, immobilizes Asuka and Bayley plays the role of the referee. So Banks wins I guess? It was a really shaky ending that didn’t make sense.

Banks wins at 20:14.

Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler – WWE Championship

Ziggler announces that the stipulation will be Extreme Rules, but only for Ziggler. Also, the championship advantage doesn’t exist for McIntyre. It added a lot of drama to the game and gave Ziggler a huge lead. However, that was not enough, as McIntyre reached the top.

McIntyre wins by pin at 15:24.

Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt – Wyatt Swamp Fight

Obviously, this is another movie match. And so far, everyone has been tremendously entertaining as WWE had to shift gears due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a bit more of a fight than anything else, with Wyatt coming out more as a Jason Voorhees-like character. It was tremendously entertaining. It ended with Braun being dragged into the swamp, and then Wyatt entered. The Demon came out in the end.
