Fernando Tatis Jr. injured, out of spring game

Peoria, Ariz. – If there’s a scene Pedres wants to avoid this spring, it was probably this one.

Fernando Tatis was knocked out of the Cactus League game against the Reds in the third inning on Tuesday with a left shoulder discomfort after a hard game on the ground ball at Jr. Shortstop. It will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, the team said.

Pedres’s star shortstop was to his right to play with his backhand, then another Reds baseman Jonathan threw a long diamond to retire India. Tatis ‘throw was awkward, and he immediately looked a little uncomfortable – although it’s worth noting that it was Tatis’ non-throwing shoulder that made him sick.

Tatis was evaluated by manager Jesse Tingler and the team’s trainer and left the field immediately afterwards. Following a half-inning in the trainer’s room, Peoria walked out of the stadium with a member of the team’s medical staff.

Naturally, it would be impossible to be without Pedres Tetis, who last month created a record-setting 14-year extension. It has accelerated all spring races, reaching 1.092 OPS in 11 games.

Tatis missed five games earlier this month with a non-COVID-related illness. He then lost a few days after a tight headfist slide into the home plate, when he felt a little bruised, although the team did not reveal the exact injury. It is not clear whether Tuesday’s shoulder illness is related.

Pedres has other options for playing shortstop, in the event that the Tatis miss any time during the regular season. Manny Machado has an extensive history there, and both Jack Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim – who are expected to share time on a second base – could also play shortstop.

But considering his ridiculous production by .301 / .374 / .582 in 14 games of his career, 39 homers and 27 steals – any injury to Tatis will clash with the Pedres team and the Dodgers in cricket with World Cup ambitions. National League West.

San Diego is already facing injury concerns for center fielder Trent Grisham (hamstring strain) and catcher Aust Stein Nola (left middle finger fracture). His position for the opening day is in question.

The club has not offered any clarification on the schedule for Tatis.
