Fast & Furious: Crossroads will be released August 7, but reviews have not arrived – it looks like very few media outlets received code for the game, and the ones they probably did not have at the time of launch. GameSpot did not review the title, but the sites that handled the game unfortunately had a few good things to say about it.
Crossroads lay, in the run-up to launch, as a potential winner. The game was developed by Slighty Mad Studios (Project Cars 3) alongside Tigon Studios, the Vin Diesel-owned studio behind The Wheelman. It has Diesel as mainstay series Dominic Toretto, along with Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson, who reprise their roles. The Fast & Furious saga has a hard time producing a good game, but this one seems to have a chance.
The game, which was originally supposed to be released in May alongside F9: The Fast Saga before being delayed, is out now, and the few reviews have not been friendly. Common complaints give poor mission design, horrible handling, and sly visuals, though the plot deserves a bit of mild praise for feeling, more or less, like a typical Fast & Furious story. There has been at least one plat-out positive review so far – we’ve included it below.
The reviews are at least more positive than the ones that got Fast & Furious: Showdown. But it seems that the best Fast & Furious game ever Forza Horizon 2 presents Fast & Furious, which has long been de-listed and was not exactly heavy on Fast & Furious flavor.
- Match: Fast & Furious: Crossroads

The Gamer – 8/10
“I can understand why some people from Crossroads can jump. The story is campy, it rides unrealistically, and its physics and graphics a bit on the wonky side. This is the farthest thing from a polished AAA experience, and it is very clear that Bandai Namco does not market it much because of it. But here’s the thing – I appreciate creativity, fun and concentrating on brushing, for me. For me, Crossroads is full of those things. Yes, it’s funny and a little dumb, but what other game this year will leave you wanting to chase a spaceship through New Orleans? ” – Bella Blondeau [Full Review]

“A lot of us lived through the era of video games that were flooded with bad movie-to-game adaptations, and Crossroads is a poignant reminder of those days, reflecting just how far games have come since then. It’s a mess of a game that hints at why the Fast movies are great, but will make you want to put the controller down to watch one of those movies instead. ” – Andrew Reiner [Full Review]
The Xbox Hub – 2/5
“The controls in Fast & Furious Crossroads are terrifying, with so much feeling like a dead trout and with so much effect on the way of your race as rubbing your lucky rabbit’s foot. One mission sees Cam trying to win a race on a narrow job in Rio, and without a word of a lie it took me about 15 tries to get the course without scratching at every corner.Handbrake does not turn, pendulum does not work – you can close your eyes as well and mute a little prayer every time you’re coming around the corner, and I feel like you should not do worse than if you tried to drive well. To beat the secret of this level? Wall grinding – let the track just take you where you need to go. the barriers seem strangely magnetic, because once you hit them, it’s hard to drive away from them. ” – Paul Renshaw [Full Review]

“How Fast & Furious Crossroads Wraps as a Complete Award Winner Will Forever Be a Mystery. It is lacking in every department possible, from shallow and repetitive gameplay to abysmal visuals that belong to the previous generation of consoles. Not even the most engaging Fast & Furious fans have to subject themselves to this monstrosity. That is, unless you want to have a good laugh with Vin Diesel. ” – Liam Croft [Full Review]
Metro – 2/10
“Fast & Furious Crossroads is an unwanted reminder of the bad old days of movie tie-ins, when cheaply made games would be thrown away as soon as possible (or not in this case) to make money on name recognition, for word. “It turned out that the game was not good. It turned out that such days were behind us, but this is just as bad as any other Fast & Furious game, if not worse, given how it spoils the talent behind the scenes.” [Full Review]

“Perhaps the biggest frustration that comes to Crossroads as a Fast & Furious fan is those cans of what could have been, and seeing a pleasant enough part of the series lore that is so heavily subdued by the play behind it.In a sanitizer, less cruel world Crossroads would probably be put down when it became clear that it just would not work – as it is, it just remained to slip out in this sorry, sorry state. What a disappointment . ” – Martin Robinson [Full Review]
