Fans of Manchester United jump to the same conclusion about Sergio Romero after Sevilla snub

Manchester United fans believe Sergio Romero will leave the club this summer after being sacked for their Europa League semi-final against Sevilla.

Romero, 33, had played until the last four in every Europa League game and kept a clean sheet during the quarter-final victory against Copenhagen.

The Argentine was the first-choice cup keeper under Jose Mourinho and started the final against Ajax in 2017, keeping a clean sheet when United lifted the trophy.

Despite the patchy form of David de Gea in recent months and costly mistakes in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, the Spaniard returned to early XI for his first Europa League appearance of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær replied that one or more of his goals would leave the club this summer with Dean Henderson returning to the club after an impressive two-year loan spell with Sheffield United.

Romero has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Leeds United to join Marcelo Bielsa and United fans believe he will leave after being stumbled upon for the match against Sevilla.

Former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson believes the championship winners this summer could draw Romero to Elland Road.

He told The Daily Star: “Playing for the club is an exciting prospect for everyone. They will attract players from all over the world – whether they are Argentine or playing for Manchester United.

“Getting loyal to Elland Road and working for Bielsa is a massive statement.”
