Fans discovered a private Super Mario Twitter account that Nintendo possibly owned, which could add weight to reports earlier this year about upcoming remasters on Switch.

The account in question bears the Twitter identifier @ SuperMario35th, which currently displays a temporary name of ‘aaaaaaaaaaa’ with no activity. The account was registered in March 2020.

As reported by VGC, a user discovered that he has a recovery email potentially linked to Nintendo. While the characters are obscured for security reasons, they do match Nintendo’s ‘nintendo.co.jp’ web address. Interestingly, it appears that both the official SplatoonJP and SmashBrosJP Twitter accounts use a very similar email address.

It is impossible to confirm whether or not Nintendo owns the account at the moment, but assuming this is the case, the account could become a place for the company to share news and other content around the 35th anniversary of its famous plumber. .

Earlier this year, reports from trusted sources claimed that Nintendo plans to release remasters of “most of Super Mario’s 35-year catalog” on Switch to celebrate the occasion, including HD versions of Super mario galaxy, Super mario sunshine and Super mario 64and a new version of Super Mario 3D World. Could these announcements finally be on the way, and will news come from this newly discovered account?

We will monitor the Twitter account @ SuperMario35th and make sure to notify you if it becomes active. Hopefully later we’ll find out if it really belongs to Nintendo or not.
