“Blink and you’ll miss it,” claims Mark Serni on the PlayStation 5 custom SSD
Mark Cerny, The chief architect of the PS5, had earlier claimed that the custom SSD of the PS5 was designed keeping in mind the “instant” load times. Sony has always bragged about the PS5’s “super fast SSD” and claimed that it is faster than the Xbox Series X.
However, recent results tell a different story. With the exception of Red Dead Redemption 2, the Xbox Series X seems to be in the upper hand in loading compatible games.
It is worth noting that on paper, the Xbox Series X always has better specifications than the PS5. The Xbox Series X also has more CPUs and GPUs than the PS5.
Will we see a similar difference in the loading time of post-game games?
Despite lagging behind the Xbox Series X in loading current-gen games, the PS5 is not a weak console. The gap between the two consoles of the console severely affects the console’s ability to play games.
Simply put, the PS5 is specially customized for loading and running next-game games. According to some leaked videos, it can load information like Spider-Man: Miles Morales more efficiently due to customization. As a result, backwards compatible games are not the best indicator of console performance.
However, the same applies to Xbox One X Series. None of the games were customized for the next-gen console next to the MicroSD, but it still beats the PS5’s “super-fast SSD”.

After these results, the console war has become more intense than before. While Micro .ft’s Xbox Series X / S may not have the best exclusive titles at its disposal, their performance will be enough to win the PS5.
