Facebook is one of the most used social networks in the world with a few million users in India. Company CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said the coronavirus pandemic has increased Messenger usage by 50 percent in the past month, especially voice and video calls. Zuckerberg said employees are working around the clock to handle the increased demand.
Facebook is packed with features, but there are some that most users are unaware of. Enabling these features or activating these settings will help users have a better Facebook experience. Since many people are using the platform to communicate with their loved ones during this pandemic, here are some tips for using the platform efficiently.
Find out if someone accessed your account
Do you have doubts that someone accesses your Facebook account without permission? To find out, you can go to the Settings option and click on the Activity Log option. In case you feel suspicious activity, just change your password. You must also log out of all devices that you have previously logged into.
Disable auto play
During the COVID-19 crash while everyone is home, Internet speed has slowed as usage increases. The reduced speed of the Internet means an increase in the time of uploading photos and videos on Facebook. In such a situation, disable the auto play option by going to the Settings menu. This will disable the auto play option and the videos will not automatically play and you can manually click on the video you want to watch.
Enable silent mode
With people staying home, smartphone use has increased dramatically. To help users reduce phone screen time, Facebook recently launched Silent Mode. This feature is currently available on iOS and will be implemented soon for Android users. With this feature, Facebook wants users to spend more time with family and people around them and less time in the app.
To configure the mode, go to the Configuration menu. The feature allows users to set a timer during which they will not be affected by any notification. In fact, while the mode is activated, users will not be able to open the application. How to use Facebook’s silent mode feature
Sign out from other devices
We log into the Facebook account using the office PC / desktop, but often forget to log out. This is important to prevent your account from being hacked. In case you forgot to sign out from a device you were previously signed in to, there is a way to go offline sitting at home. Go to the Manage Active Devices option in the Settings menu. Sign out of all listed devices.
Download all Facebook data
Facebook recently began providing users with the option of knowing what data the platform is collecting. Users can download the data that Facebook has about them. To download the collected data, users can go to the Settings panel and click on the option “download a copy of their data from Facebook”. Users should press the “Start my file” option. Once the file is complete, the download will start automatically and will be saved to your device.
