Facebook dismisses Trump post falsely saying flu is more deadly than covid

Facebook spokesman Andy Stone has confirmed that the company has deleted the post for breaking its rules on Covid-19 misinformation.

President Trump, with his own entry, has eliminated the threat of Covid-19. Now, while fighting the disease itself, it has continued to dishonestly reduce the severity of the virus.

His post on Tuesday incorrectly compared Kovid-19 to the seasonal flu.

The President also posted the same message on Twitter. That post is still live, but Twitter has added a message to the tweet stating that it has violated the company’s rule of spreading misleading information regarding Covid-19.

In August, Facebook and Twitter deleted a post by Trump for making false claims about Covid-19. The post contained a video of the president during a Fox News interview in which he falsely claimed that children were “almost immune” to the virus.
Tuesday afternoon, Trump tweeted, “Real Real Section 230 !!!” He said nothing more than this, leaving out exactly what he clarified from the tweet, but this was probably a response to the action taken by Facebook and Twitter. Section 230 is an acronym for U.S. law that gives technology companies immunity from almost all decisions concerning their moderation.
