The news that the global variants of the Galaxy Note 20 will stick with the Exynos 990 would have received harsh criticism, as Samsung’s flagship SoC cannot beat the Snapdragon 865 in both performance and efficiency. However, not everything should be viewed negatively because an informant claims that the Exynos 990 running on the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 will be highly optimized to match Qualcomm’s high-end chipsets.
Tipster refers to this version of the Exynos 990 as the ‘Exynos 990 Plus’
New details surrounding the guts of the Galaxy Note 20 speak to the Exynos 990 being fully optimized to come face to face with the Snapdragon 865 in both performance and thermal. If you recall, the Galaxy S20 Plus powered by an Exynos 990 couldn’t keep up with a budget Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro in a gaming test, showing the weaknesses of the poorly optimized chipset.
According to Anthony, Samsung will market the Exynos 990 version of the Galaxy Note 20 as the best variant compared to the Snapdragon 865 counterpart, although we’ll have to wait for real-world tests to see how accurate those claims are. Previously, it was reported that an Exynos 992 had been found on Samsung’s 5nm node on the Galaxy Note 20, but as you can read, the updated info has taken a route in a different direction.
I hope everyone understands this:
The Exynos 990 in the Note 20 series is an improved version with a better optimization than the Snapdragon version and it works as well and as fast as the Snapdragon. It’s like an Exynos 990+
Samsung will also market the Exynos990 model as best

It could be because Samsung faces tremendous difficulties in producing favorable 5nm chip performance, but as far as we know the Exynos 990 will be driving global versions of the Galaxy Note 20 family. If what Anthony says is true, it will be interesting to see how This upgraded ‘Exynos 990 Plus’ will compete with the Snapdragon 865 Plus, which is a slightly faster version of the Snapdragon 865. Samsung is also rumored to adhere to this SoC by selling Note 20 models in its local market.
If the Exynos 990 is really optimized for both performance and working well, Samsung wouldn’t need to trust Qualcomm’s chipsets, but let’s see how much better Samsung’s silicon really is when the first performance results come out in the future.
