Exclusive: 11-inch Galaxy Tab S7 will miss out on this stylish feature

For the first time in many years, Samsung is launching a new flagship tablet with different screen sizes. The Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 +, which will launch next month alongside the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Z Fold 2, will feature 11-inch and 12.4-inch displays respectively. Samsung is clearly targeting the iPad Pro-dominated market with its upcoming lineup of tablets, and as we’ve seen with Samsung’s flagship phones, the Tab S7 spec sheet will be more humble compared to the Plus variant spec sheet ( that we revealed exclusively last week).

And, thanks to our generally trustworthy sources, we’ve learned that one feature the regular Galaxy Tab S7 will miss is an on-screen fingerprint reader. Similar to the Galaxy Tab S5e, the Tab S7 will have its fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. Whether that is good or not will depend entirely on an individual’s perspective. We believe that physical fingerprint sensors are best, especially when placed on the side of a device rather than on the back. They are not as elegant as the on-screen solutions, but their speed and precision remain unmatched.

As for the Galaxy Tab S7 +, we still don’t know if it will have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor like Samsung’s flagship phones or an optical sensor. Not that it matters much: both the ultrasonic and optical sensors that Samsung is using on its devices today are in almost the same situation when it comes to performance, so the user experience won’t be affected. no way.

What can we expect from the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 +?

Leaving aside the difference in fingerprint technology, Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 + will be true flagship tablets. Both models will be equipped with the recently announced Snapdragon 865+ processor, are compatible with the S Pen and come with an official keyboard accessory. The Tab S7 + will be powered by a massive 10,090 mAh battery and the Tab S7 should have a battery capacity somewhere in the ballpark of 7,700-7,800 mAh, along with super-fast charging of up to 45W.

5G connectivity will also be part of the package. Other features we take for granted on Samsung’s flagship tablets are also expected, such as the beautiful AMOLED displays and quad speakers tuned to AKG. On the other hand, water resistance is still a feature that Samsung refuses to bring to its flagship tablets, which is a missed opportunity in the opinion of some of us here at SamMobile.
