Saturday Night Live ratings skyrocket with Adele as host and HER as musical guest
Adele made her debut as a Saturday Night Live host, accompanied by musical guest HER, which led to huge ratings.
The October 24 episode earned a massive 5.0 rating, the third highest rating SNL published since Nielsen changed its methodology in October 2019, according to Showbiz 411.
The 5.0 rating was behind this month’s season premiere hosted by Chris Rock with musical guest Megan Thee Stallion (5.6) and last December’s episode hosted by Eddie Murphy, featuring musical guest Lizzo (6.7).

The episode drew approximately 5 million viewers, with a rating of 5.0 live plus same-day results from 44 markets as measured by Nielsen Media Research.
It also scored 2.4 in the all-important 18-49-year-old adult demographic in the 25 markets with local meters.
The 5.0 rating is 28% higher than the 3.9 rating average the show featured at this time last October, while the 2.4 rating 18-49 is up 41% from the 1.7 rating last year.

SNL was the best show of the night on all the big 4 networks, beating Game 4 of the World Series on Fox, which earned a 4.7 rating.
The first three episodes of this SNL season were the most watched episodes of that night.
The October 3 premiere drew 8.235 million viewers, with 6.897 million viewers for the October 10 episode and 6.585 million viewers for the October 17 episode.
Big 4: SNL was the best show of the night on all of the Big 4 networks, beating Game 4 of the World Series on Fox, which earned a 4.7 rating.
SNL also finished in # 2 or # 3 among entertainment shows each week in the 18-49 demographic, with a rating of 1.84 on October 3, 1.41 on October 10, and a 1.37 on October 17.
This season will begin historically with six episodes in a row, the first time it happens.
SNL also announced Saturday that comedian John Mulaney will host the Halloween episode with The Strokes as a musical guest.
