A former presenter for Microsoft’s Xbox Brazil team says she lost her job because she had been subjected to constant harassment since her hiring less than two months ago, according to IGN.

“At the beginning of September, when I announced my new job on Xbox Brazil, I suffered harassment of all kinds, by people who said that I did not play x or y and that I was not ‘worthy’ of my job, even rape / death threats and assault for exposing tense situations, “wrote Isadora Basile in a statement posted on Twitter. “Thanks to the help of my family, boyfriend and friends, I learned well how to deal with this, but that does not mean that it is not happening anymore.

“Due to all this harassment, Microsoft decided that it was better to break ties with me as the host, so that I would not be more exposed to situations like these that happened.”

Microsoft contradicted Basile’s version of events, telling IGN that it let her go so soon after hiring her because it decided to focus more on its Xbox Wire site as a way to promote its business.

“We do not tolerate harassment or disrespectful conduct of any kind and we took steps to support Isadora when we were informed of personal attacks against her,” the company said. “Last week’s programming changes are unrelated. They are a direct result of our continued effort to reach more players in more languages with live news and comprehensive information available on our global news outlet, Xbox Wire. .

During her brief stint with the company, Basile was the host of an Xbox News series on the official YouTube channel of Xbox Brazil. His last appearance on the channel was published on October 16.

This is the second time this year that bullying in the Brazilian Xbox community has made headlines. In June, Xbox Brazil issued a statement disavowing the influencer channel XboxMilGrau and demanding that it remove the brand name from its name after its hosts reportedly made racist, sexist, and transphobic statements in its broadcasts and used the channel to harassing women and minorities.
