Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will have all the basics of an AAA PC game: unlimited frame rates, VRR for high refresh displays, FOV sliders, and ray tracing support for RTX video cards.

A big change for Cold War is how the engine now runs on DirectX 12, which allows for all sorts of new optimizations through DX12 Ultimate APIs like Sampler Feedback Streaming (developers have more control over how data is transmitted to the GPU) and accelerated DirectStorage APIs that can NVIDIA’s new ultra-fast RTX IO data technology.

“The biggest change is that the Black Ops engine now runs on DirectX 12. This has led to a huge improvement in terms of performance and reduced latency. For gamers who prioritize immersive gaming, we have a great partnership with NVIDIA to deliver ray tracing effects, deep learning supersampling that accelerates performance, and Reflex latency optimization technology “, Marc-Alexandre Milot, Director of Beenox UI / UX, said in a recent video.

Milot also confirms that Reflex latency technology is coming to Warzone in the future.

Also remember that the PC version of Cold War is being developed by four studies: Beenox, Sledgehammer Games, High Moon Studios and Activision Shanghai.
