The Game Awards, an annual awards show hosted by Geoff Keighley, returns on December 10. This year’s festivities are taking a “multi-city approach”, offering studio broadcasts in Los Angeles, London and Tokyo, albeit without in-person audiences.

The event will also feature a new award, Innovation in Accessibility, to honor developers who “drive the medium forward by adding features, technology and content to help games be played and enjoyed by an even wider audience.” More details about the show will be released closer to its air date, though organizers promise it will again feature news about the games available that night, demos, and more. It will be available as a free live stream on 45 platforms.

Keighley has talked about his ambitions to make TGA a global issue for years. While the pandemic makes an in-person destination event nearly impossible to host, broadcasting from multiple cities offers a more viable solution. “In 2020, video games have connected and comforted us more than ever, and that makes the 2020 edition of The Game Awards our biggest show to date,” Keighley said in a prepared statement. “Our team is working hard to deliver an innovative and thoughtful program that celebrates excellence, anticipates the future, and amplifies the important voices that are shaping the future of this medium.”
