RAWALPINDI: Emirates has offered free worldwide coverage (traveler’s medical bills) for coronavirus-related costs, saying it will cover the medical and quarantine costs of its customers, regardless of their travel class or destination.
This coverage is effective immediately for customers flying on Emirates until October 31, 2020 (first flight to be completed on or before October 31). It is valid for 31 days from the moment you fly the first sector of your trip.
Emirates said in a press release on Friday that it is the first airline in the world to offer free worldwide coverage for Covid-19 related costs.
Emirates customers can travel with confidence as the airline will cover medical expenses of up to EUR 150,000 and quarantine costs of EUR 100 per day for 14 days, in case they are diagnosed with Covid-19 during their journey, while they are away from home.
Emirates Group President and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “Under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Emirates is proud to lead the way for increase confidence for international travel.

“We know that people long to fly as borders around the world as it gradually reopens, but they are looking for flexibility and guarantees in case something unforeseen happens during their journey.”
He added: “Emirates has worked hard to implement measures at every step of the customer journey to mitigate the risk of infection, and we have also renewed our booking policies to offer flexibility.
“We are now taking it to the next level, being the first in the industry to offer our customers free worldwide coverage for Covid-19 medical expenses and quarantine costs should they incur these costs during their travel.
“It is an investment on our part, but we are putting our clients first, and we believe that they will welcome this initiative.”
Emirates offers this coverage for Covid-19 related medical expenses and quarantine costs free of charge to its customers, regardless of travel class or destination.
This coverage is effective immediately for customers flying on Emirates until October 31 (first flight to be completed on or before October 31). It is valid for 31 days from the moment you fly the first sector of your trip.
This means that Emirates customers can continue to benefit from the additional guarantee of this coverage, even if they travel to another city after reaching their Emirates destination.
Customers do not need to register or complete any forms prior to travel, and are not required to use this coverage provided by Emirates.
Any affected customer who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 while traveling simply needs to contact a dedicated hotline for assistance and coverage.

Emirates had previously resumed passenger service to Pakistan’s four major cities – Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Sialkot – after a temporary suspension, but on the condition that passengers must carry a new Covid-19 negative report from a specific laboratory.
