Embedded Loreto executive resigns after vaccination scandals

ST STIN – Three business people close to him were vaccinated early with doses from West Side Hospital by a block club after a top official at Loreto Hospital resigned on Wednesday night.

The resignation of Dr Ahmed, the chief rating operating officer, by a unanimous vote on Wednesday by the board of trustees of Loreto Hospital came just hours after the block club reported that Ahmed had repeatedly vaccinated incompetent people working on steakhouses.

Dr. Anosh Ahmed was the Chief Operating Officer of Loreto Hospital.

The board thanked Ahmed for his work – but said it would “continue to investigate any and all deviations from the rules and regulations” for vaccinations. Ahmed was taken in 2018.

Board Chairman Edward Hogg said in a statement that if our review addresses any issues that indicate that our processes were tampered with, there will be additional consequences imposed on those responsible for these actions.

Ahmed, who also serves as chief financial officer at the hospital, was heavily criticized last week after a report from the Black Block Club that Loreto held a vaccination program at Trump Tower and told people he had vaccinated millionaire Eric Trump.

Ahmed – who later said he was joking about vaccinating Trump – owns a condo in the Trump Tower and has told people he is friends with Trump, who would not be eligible for the vaccine in Chicago.

The Geneva Seal, a luxury watch and jewelry store on the Gold Coast frequented by Ahmed, was also vaccinated by Loreto in early March; Such were the employees at the expensive Gold Coast steakhouse, Maple and Ash, where Ahmed is a frequent customer.

The scandals spread to other parts of the hospital: more than 200 people at CEO George Miller’s suburban church were vaccinated by Loreto, the Block Club reported. Shots were also offered at Loreto to judges of the unqualified Cook County, WBEZ reported.

The supply of coronavirus vaccine doses by the city to Loreto Hospital has been cut off as officials investigate whether it is vaccinating people and reporting vaccinations.

The head of the city’s health department, Dr. Alison Arwadi, said Loreto used his dose on “well-connected” people, “letting them jump the line.” The health department is investigating and will not send the dose to Loreto unless he is confident, as it will be used in accordance with city regulations.

The hospital’s board said Friday that “appropriate action has been taken to reprimand Miller and Ahmed for their role in the errors of judgment” – but board members declined to announce the sentence.

On Monday, the board held an emergency meeting and said it had a corrective plan of action, but members again declined to say what they planned to do or how they reprimanded Miller and Ahmed.

Member of the Board and Representative of the State Legislative Assembly Area, Rep. La Shaden Ford resigned Tuesday morning, saying the board needed to be made more transparent.

Loreto Hospital is a small, 122-bed hospital operating on the underserved West Side, where people of color have been hit hard by coronavirus and few have been vaccinated. The Trump Tower, Geneva Seal and Maple & Ash are in the downtown area, where the effects of the virus have not been felt so much – but where more vaccinations have been given.

The city has published Loreto’s work as an example of its goal of getting people vaccinated – until the city’s first vaccine dose is given there, to show that Chicago’s west and south-facing communities are often overlooked.

But the hospital is now embroiled in controversy.

A staff member at Loreto Hospital – who asked to remain anonymous for fear of being anonymous – said the controversy was “provocative” because “people call every day, waiting in line to be vaccinated.”

The staff member said many of his colleagues at Loreto are “frustrated” and question how anyone at the hospital can be held accountable. On Monday, a staff member said the board should fire Miller and Ahmed.

“We have lost faith in the leadership of L’Sort Reto Hospital. We have lost faith in the board, ”said the staff member. “He looks very corrupt, and it seems very important to him for his selfishness to serve Chicago’s West Side, which is zealous for many of us, and many of us are in the hospital for this. The reason. “
