Elon Musk says Tesla is doubling the size of its full self-driving beta program with the next new update.
Another one that follows, may see an increase in the size of the test fleet by a factor of 10.
October In October 2020, Tesla began rolling out a full self-driving beta release to the owners of the “Early Access Access” program, a group of Tesla owners who are testing early versions of Tesla’s new features before widespread release in the fleet.
The software update was seen as a major step towards Tesla, which has long promised to make its vehicles “fully self-driving” through over-the-air software updates.
While the result of the update doesn’t really get to the self-driving vehicle because the responsibility is still on the driver, who Tesla still needs to be vigilant and always ready to take control of, it closes the gap with Tesla’s op topilot highway driving. Tesla’s driver assistance system to facilitate and control the vehicle on city roads and through intersections.
Tesla owners using the FSD beta are able to give the car a destination and the vehicle will try to drive them there autonomously as they are ready to handle by keeping the vehicle at the steering wheel.

Now the CEO says the number of Tesla owners testing the full self-driving beta will double with the new update:
“Let us know if you would like to download the Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta to your car. The size of the beta program is now doubling with 8.2 and 10X size with 8.3. Be careful yet, but it is maturing. ”
Last month, Musk revealed that there are currently more than a thousand Tesla owners testing the FSD beta.
Tesla uses a test fleet to provide real-world data to its neural network and improve performance.
The CEO did not elaborate on the timing of these two new versions of the FSD beta software, but as they said earlier this week, they could come in the coming months.
Over the past few months, Kasturi has repeatedly stated that he thinks Tesla will release a fully self-driving Level 5 system by the end of 2021.
