Elon Musk and his partner Claire “Grimes” Boucher welcomed their first baby on May 4, but the Tesla boss surprised everyone with the baby’s name: X Æ A-12. No one seemed to have any idea how to pronounce the name that seemed like a mathematical formula.
But a week later, we have a breakthrough. Musk on Joe Rogan’s experience on Thursday she finally told us how to pronounce her son’s name. It is “X Ash A 12”, where X is only “X” and the A-12 is only “A 12”.
Musk also said the name was primarily Grimes’ idea. Grimes also gave a breakdown of the name in a tweet.
• X, the unknown variable ⚔️
• Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love and / or artificial intelligence)
• A-12 = forerunner of the SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). Without weapons, without defenses, only speed. Great in battle, but not violent.

(A = Archangel, my favorite song)

The name that left everyone scratching their heads, however, may face some administrative problems in California as the Vital Records office accepts names that contain 26 alphabetic letters.
