It is not surprising that Musk approached Apple Pal. In 2001, Musk struck a “handshake deal” to buy his friend Larry Page’s Google company Tesla, in search of alternatives to save the company amidst initial sales problems, according to the 2015 autobiography of Elon Musk.
Ashley Vance writes in the book that the deal was canceled after paying a big drive to sell. T Pal’s automotive efforts, known as Project Titan, have progressed unevenly since 2014, when it began designing its own vehicle from scratch. Reports this week say the car could eventually be built by an outside manufacturing partner.
