A large portion of Musk’s net worth is tied up in its electric car maker Tesla, which has increased its shares more than 300% this year.

The auto market has remained profitable over the last quarter despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Tesla sold more than 179,000 cars in the first half of 2020, and sold the sales to its closest three competitors in the electric car market together, according to Electrek.

Earlier this month, Tesla announced a five-for-one deed split, effective August 31, to make its shares more accessible to a wider range of investors.

Shares of Tesla were higher on Tuesday, gaining 2.3% to trade at $ 1,878.66.
