Remember Eiyuden Chronicle, the spiritual successor to Konami’s classic Suikoden series that started generating funds on Kickstarter last month? Well, it’s doing pretty well for itself – and by “pretty good” we mean “astronomically good”.
With 12 days to go, the game has become the “most funded video game project” in Japan. At the time of writing, it has risen a whopping 327,222,665 yen, which is comfortably more than $ 3 million USD, and that amount continues to rise with each passing moment.
The project has now smashed 24 additional targets and also has the honor of being the ninth most funded video game Kickstarter of all time. Wow. Yoshitaka Murayama, the creative director behind Eiyuden Chronicle, shared the following:
“Eiyuden Chronicle is now the single most supported project by Japanese people ever. For this project, I want to take the passion of the fans and put it into the game – that’s how I feel. I have seen people on social media say that this is the first Kickstarter they have ever supported and it makes me so happy to see that passion and support.
Everyone in the entertainment industry probably feels the same way – they want to make as many people happy as possible. Normally it’s a feeling you get on release day when you sell your game, but with Eiyuden Chronicle we are able to feel that even in this current phase. And you get to feel it right away from the voices of the fans, which again is a great feeling. Thank you for all the enthusiasm and support. It really keeps me going. So please join us on this two year journey of developing this game. ”
Now Rabbit & Bear Studios have revealed that it will add a 9th extra character to the game via a voice system – bringing the total to 109 – and has also posted a new video scheduled to be released at the end of the week to become.
The future looks very bright for this, whatever Nintendo system ends up doing.
