Australian researchers are working on a 15-minute coronavirus test using yeast bread as the main ingredient.
According to the German news agency DPA, the Queensland government awarded biotech company “Shinj Technologies” $ 1.07 million in funding to spend on the project, which researchers say on Wednesday works similar to a pregnancy test. .
“A few drops of a special solution are placed on a nasal swab, then the test can be applied to a strip and the result can be obtained in 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the severity of the injury,” said lead researcher Yadvir Grewal , according to Sputnik.
He explained that “yeast contains particles that can trap the virus.”
“This quick and inexpensive test can be used when entering high-risk areas, such as hospitals, nursing homes and shopping centers,” he said.
It revealed that “the test itself is also being investigated in the United States, indicating that the Australian government is working with the US health authorities to make the test available by the end of the year.”
