A responsible source at Pyramids revealed the scenes of the team’s captaincy crisis developments in the absence of Commander Abdullah Al-Saeed, amid confusion over the eligibility of the badge bearer.
The source, who declined to be named, said in exclusive remarks to Laila Kora that the Pyramids club management wanted to award the captaincy to Sherif Ikrami, who joined the team this season.
He added that “Omar Jaber, Ali Gabr, Ahmed Tawfiq and Nabil Emad Dunga did not accept the matter as they are the oldest among the current members of the team.”
He continued: “There was a great discussion between the players and the management, and the club leaders decided to deduct half of the reward for reaching the Confederation Final (15 thousand pounds) from each player.”
The source confirmed: “Ahmed Fathy did not ask for the plaque and withdrew from the crisis in peace.”
He concluded by saying: “Sherif Ikrami accepted the matter, and the order was returned to its seniority correction.”
Abdullah Al-Saeed will be absent from the Pyramids matchups in the current period due to his recent injury, so the qualification period to return to participation begins again.
The Pyramids are reported to temporarily occupy second place in the Egyptian League after accumulating 25 points in 15 games played thus far.
