Books – Ahmed Jumaa:

Dr. Ahmed Al-Manzari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, commented on the proposal to implement a comprehensive ban in Egypt to counter the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19).

Al-Manzari said during the press conference held by the organization’s regional office on the latest developments in Corona on Tuesday that the organization of the first period to announce the pandemic advised countries to implement a package of measures related to health and some of the actions they take, such as closing schools and universities, closing mosques, and preventing meetings with larger numbers, Working to reduce the spread of the disease among individuals.

He added: “Despite this advice, global health has asked countries to assess the benefits or risks of implementing these measures and to range from light measures or complete embargoes.”

The theory continued: “Some countries have implemented these procedures based on certain data according to their study on the spread of the disease, and some countries have implemented a partial ban on the ability of the health system to treat cases, an increase slow in the number of cases and the ability to provide the necessary services, or have tended to apply a comprehensive ban. This gave countries a wide margin to regulate their health programming and they were able to treat cases. “

He noted that there are other countries based on his data, which see that the ban did not work, due to the spread of the disease at a rate that the health system can handle, since it took into account economic issues.

Al-Manzoori concluded his speech by saying: “In the end, each country observes its special conditions in economic and social terms.”

Dr. Hussein Khairy, head of the Union of Doctors in Egypt, called for a total ban within the country for a period of two weeks; To address the new spread of the Corona virus and the increasing number of infections. “This period is the most dangerous in the spread of the virus, especially with the increase in infections among medical teams and citizens, and a complete ban should apply,” he said.
