Since the Egyptian authorities announced the arrest of the Brotherhood’s acting General Guide, Mahmoud Ezzat, in a village in the gathering area east of Cairo, the leaders of the Brotherhood in Turkey, as well as the leaders of the international organization in the British capital, London, in continuous meetings to discuss various files that led to the arrest of the prized capture and the store of the group’s secrets. .
Community secrets
According to information obtained by Al-Arabiya.net, the meetings discussed how to confront and handle the information that the Egyptian security services could obtain from Mahmoud Ezzat, the data that the computers and phones that he had in his possession, and that contained all the details of the secrets, networks, finances and investments of the group within. And abroad, and its generic cells and electronic committees, and its contacts with the organizations and countries that support them.
What increased the group’s fears was that Ezzat’s arrest had occurred some time ago, as he announced in an official statement that he had completely lost contact with Mahmoud Ezzat, reinforcing his suspicions that the security services had hid the news of his arrest until he obtained his confessions and all the information he had before. When announcing the news of his actual arrest, while other sources revealed that Ezzat, after the revolution of June 30, 2013 and his disappearance, gave other copies and CDs with all the data, files and papers of the organizational and financial group to a leader of the international organization outside Egypt in anticipation of his arrest at any time.
Khalifa Mahmoud Ezzat
As for the second most prominent file in the group’s Shura Brotherhood and Council discussions in Turkey, according to sources at Al-Arabiya.net, who will succeed Mahmoud Ezzat? Amid the growing desire for the position to be limited to Egyptians, a tradition the group has followed since its founding in 1928 and thus options were limited to just two group leaders abroad, namely, Mahmoud Hussein, the group’s general secretary and resident of Turkey, and Ibrahim Munir, the group’s deputy guide. Mahmoud Hussein’s shares rose to win the job, provided he handled the group’s affairs from Turkey, which has a large number of group leaders fleeing Egypt.
After limiting the candidates to succeed Ezzat to just two names, disagreements emerged, as the great leaders of those affiliated with the reformer wing called for the elimination of the Special Organization Group and the Year 65 organization, which, by their expression, It was raised on Sayed Qutb’s ideas and was convened by Councilor Mamoun Al-Hudhaibi, the former Brotherhood leader, the ten-year-old group. In which they were convicted during the government of Abdel Nasser in 65, and the names of those affiliated with the reform movement were proposed.
Polar regulation approach
Ahmed Atta, a researcher on political movements of Islam, told Al-Arabiya.net that the Shura Council of the Brotherhood will be committed to continuing the Qutbi organization’s approach. Therefore, the position of the guide will not depart from the leaders of this organization, and will be among the Egyptians after excluding other leaders of Non-Egyptians, adding that the international organization believes that Egyptians are the most deserving of the position because The group was founded in Egypt, and the Egyptians have held the position of guide since the group’s inception, in addition to the fact that the group refuses to abandon the centralization of the organization, and therefore the international organization preferred to choose a successor to Ezzat among the Egyptian leaders of the group.
He noted that the organization, to a large extent, will be decided by choosing who has knowledge in the matters of the group administratively, organizationally and financially, and to be aware of all its data, networks, organizational files and financial and investment portfolios, and He added that the group will carry out its organizational functions from its own guidance office that was inaugurated in Istanbul.
Amr Farouk, researcher in the file of the political movements of Islam, confirms that the arrest of Mahmoud Ezzat constitutes a painful blow to the Brotherhood and its organizational rules, especially those that are currently going through a phase of organizational latency, or what is called according to the group’s literature, the “Dar Al-Arqam” strategy.
Fears of an organizational vacuum
He told Al-Arabiya.net that the group will witness a state of organizational vacuum in light of the presence of the guide, his deputies and influential leaders within the prison, which means that the group will ignite with conflicts and disagreements over the fate of managing the archives of power, money and organization, indicating that Ezzat’s arrest will open the door wide sooner. Raising the issue of the “internationalization of the guide post” and getting rid of the idea of restricting it to the Egyptian Brotherhood, especially in light of the existence of a real crisis that has been going on since the nineties of the last century between the Brotherhood of Egypt and the Brotherhood of Kuwait, Lebanon, and Tunisia, which resulted in what became known as the “promise of graves” to avoid direct clashes with leaders of international organizations at the time.
He added that it is necessary for the Brotherhood to announce in the next few hours, Khalifa Mahmoud Ezzat, to cut the way to many fronts and parties that want to take over the position, and as a reassuring message for the organizational rules inside and outside Egypt that the group still is able to continue and face.
