According to Moroccan media reports, Al-Salawi, 61, worked for the research and development division of GlaxoSmithKline between 2015 and 2017, and helped develop vaccines to prevent malaria, stomach and intestinal infections in children and the cervical cancer.

He is also a member of the board of directors of the “Moderna” company that conducted the first vaccine test for a woman in Corona, and a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, and previously worked with a group of epidemiology professors to find vaccines. related to HIV. “

He left Morocco at age 17 to study medicine in France, then traveled to Belgium, where he settled for 27 years, during which he studied molecular biology and received a doctorate in immunology from the Free University of Brussels.

He completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, according to his CV posted on the Hamad Bin Khalifa University website.
