Smouha came close to matching his record for the number of consecutive games without a loss, following his victory over Wadi Degla (2-1) on Thursday, in the opening of the fourth day of the Egyptian Premier League competition.

Wadi Degla advanced through new player Amir Adel “Alexander Jakobsen” in the second minute, before Hossam Hassan tied for Samouha in the 11th minute and Rafiq Kabo scored the game-winner for Samouha in the 81st minute.

Smouha reached 13 consecutive games without defeat between last and current season, which led the Alexandrian club, through their official account, to compare their coach Ahmed Sami and the German Jurgen Klopp, coach of Liverpool, England.

Smouha’s account on the social network “Twitter” published two images of Ahmed Sami and Juergen Klopp, commenting: “13 consecutive games without defeat in the Egyptian League Championship with Ahmed Sami”, adding: “The secret is in glasses”.

Smouha, coached by Ahmed Sami, rose to five points in sixth place in the league after achieving his first victory for the 2020/2021 season, where he drew in the first two rounds with Ghazl Al-Mahalla and Al-Ittihad Al- Iskandari with the same score (1-1).

Samouha’s undefeated streak began in the final 2019/2020 season since drawing 3-3 with Aswan in week 25 of the league last September, before maintaining his undefeated record until the end of the season.

Samouha’s last loss in the league dates back to September 2, 2020, at the hands of El-Entag El-Harby, with a score (2-1) in week 24, and Hamada Sidqi was the team’s coach at the time , before resigning after the next match against Aswan.

Since then, the Alexandrian team has put together a 13-game streak in the Egyptian League without a loss, achieving six wins and seven draws in that period, approaching the record it achieved in the 2015/2016 season.

Smouha is looking to preserve his unbeaten streak in the league, but will face a difficult task as he will face Zamalek and the last runner-up of the next round in the postponed third round match next Monday at Burj Al Arab Stadium.

Smouha achieved his league record after playing 15 consecutive games undefeated in the 2015/2016 season, in a record series that began with a draw with Enppi (1-1) in the fourth round and continued through matchday 18 by beating Ghazl El Mahalla (4-2).

Smouha’s achievement began as Mimi Abdel Razek took over the leadership of the team against Enppi in his first game as manager, to achieve 10 draws and five wins, before announcing his resignation immediately after the end of the series when he fell to Petrojet with three goals per goal.

And during those matches, Smouha achieved his biggest victory in the history of his confrontations with Al-Ahly, where the team defeated the league champions in the eighth week, specifically on December 17, 2015, with three goals signed by Khaled Qamar and Islam Muhareb (two goals).

It is noteworthy that Abdel-Razek took over the leadership of Smouha, succeeding Mohamed Youssef at the beginning of that season and led him in 16 games, to leave after receiving his only defeat since taking over responsibility, and contribute to the squad’s occupation. third in the league and qualify for the Confederacy.
