The Al-Ahly club coaching staff, led by South Africa, Pitso Mosimane, is working during the current period to define the characteristics of the team’s list of participants in the FIFA Club World Cup, to be held in Qatar.

Doha will host the FIFA Club World Cup from February 1 to 11, which was supposed to take place last December, but FIFA decided to postpone the tournament until February due to the Corona virus.

In recent days, FIFA has approached Al-Ahly on some matters related to the Club World Cup and requested that the first list be sent by 6 January at the latest.

The Al-Ahly club has not yet revealed the date of his trip to Doha, due to the lack of vision about the local and African team’s matches against World Cup clubs.

The Competitions Committee of the Egyptian Football Association previously revealed the match dates for the first 7 rounds of the league competition only, and no date has been set for the remaining matches.

Al-Ahly is scheduled to play its first match at the Club World Cup one of the days of February 2 or 3, as it begins its campaign in the quarterfinals, and the competitor and today will be decided according to the draw that will take place January 19.

Mondial Clubs regulations stipulate that each team participating in the World Cup must arrive at the venue of its first match three days before the match.

In the same context, Al-Ahly’s coaching staff is working on preparing the list of teams that will participate in the tournament.

According to the World Cup rules and regulations regarding the temporary roster:

– Each participating club must present a temporary online roster of at least 24 players and a maximum of 35 players (at least 4 of them are goalkeepers), accompanied by a copy of the passport of each player included in the list. The provisional list must be sent to FIFA within the deadline stipulated in the corresponding circular.

– Each participating club must have up to 70 team officials on the provisional roster so that the relevant authorities can proceed with the background checks for visa and accreditation purposes. Each participating club must comply with the visa requirements and procedures.

– The temporary list will be used for internal purposes only and will not be published to the public on the official FIFA website.

– Any request to change the temporary list of exceptional cases must be submitted in writing before the deadline for the final list and is subject to approval by FIFA.

How about the final list?

The final list of the 23 players (three of whom will be goalkeepers) who have been selected to participate will be presented within the specified timeframe. A signed copy of this list must also be sent to FIFA within the same period. All information requested online about players must be completed.

– The players on the final list must be selected from the players on the temporary list. Only the 23 finalists can participate in the Club World Cup.

– A player on the final roster can be replaced by a player on the temporary roster only in the event of serious injury or illness, even 24 hours before the start of his team’s first match. The substitute will be appointed by the participating club, who will inform FIFA.

– After receiving and accepting a detailed written medical evaluation in one of FIFA’s official languages, the FIFA Medical Committee, represented by the FIFA General Physician, will issue a certificate attesting that the injury or illness is sufficiently serious enough to prevent the player from participating. Injured players who have been substituted must be recertified with FIFA. Consequently, players who are recertified as members of the final roster of the participating club will not be considered.

FIFA will publish the final list of 23 players after the submission deadline.

– In addition to the final list of players above, a final list of 32 officials will be sent online before the established deadline.
