On November 20, 2020, the African Football Confederation (CAF) issued an official statement, during which it announced, in coordination with the Qatar Football Association, that the 2020 Super Cup would not be held in Qatar.

In its statement, “CAF” indicated that the current version of the tournament will be held in Egypt, after an agreement was reached between them and the Qatar Federation on the postponement of the organization of the match that was scheduled for the period between on August 14 and 16, 2020.

This decision is due to current events related to the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), since “CAF” has previously signed an agreement with the Qatar Federation on the headquarters of the Super African in Doha for the next three years.

Esperance from Tunisia and Raja Moroccan previously played in Qatar for the African Super Cup in Qatar and won the Moroccan champion, while Zamalek won the last edition of the African Super Cup held in Qatar at the expense of Esperance.

And “CAF” returned to the usual system of the African Super Cup, which is played from a match in the country of the Champions League winning team.

According to CAF regulations, the basis is the establishment of the African Super Cup in the stadium of the winning team of the African Champions League, with the Executive Committee having the right to choose a neutral stadium to host the match if it has another decision.

Consequently, Egypt’s organization of the African Super Cup is not negotiable by the Moroccan team officials as long as there is no opposition or other decision by “Kaf”.

“CAF” owns the right to change stadiums as it deems appropriate, and this is what happened when it was decided to hold the championship in Qatar for marketing reasons, or when the 2007 edition was held in Ethiopia between Al-Ahly and Etoile Sahel for ceremonial reasons.

The regulations also say that in case there are circumstances that prevent the match from taking place in the stadium of the winning team of the African Champions League, the Club Committee reserves the right to change the stadium and install it in the stadium. of the winner of the Confederacy.
