He also stated in an interview on the “Final Word” program presented by Lamees Al-Hadidi on the “ON” screen that cases are examined according to the lawsuit papers and the provisions of the law are applied to them. Regarding the complaints for some of the long periods of preventive detention until the accused obtains innocence or conviction, not only in cases of terrorism, until sometimes it has become another punishment, the minister said: “Prison preventive is a legal procedure that lengthens or shortens the circumstances of the investigation, and has justifications if available. These justifications have the right of the judge to renew the prison sentence, and it differs according to the circumstances of each case. In the end, they are procedures, and the judge is not bloody and wants to imprison citizens, because he is a person who in the end does not want to torture people and remove them from their families, but there is an investigation, a vision and a reality.
On the recent demands for the abolition of the death penalty, the minister said: “There is no international agreement in the world that prohibits the death penalty,” and stressed that the death penalty is applied to serious crimes that differ from country to country. to another and within the same country according to each era, and there are dozens of countries that await the death penalty, not just Egypt. He continued, wondering, “Why exactly is this tone to me? The conversation now about executions in Egypt is aimed at keeping terrorists away from the gallows.”
The minister added: “The guarantees of the person sentenced to death are many, including the need to appeal the verdict and many procedures”, saying: “The judge is not affected by talking about executions, and does not pass sentence but with his sentence Well, look at the scope of the commission of the crime by the accused ”.
And he continued: “Whoever does not accept a certain sentence, who appeals to the highest appellate authority, and that is the way to express the rejection of the sentence, which is lawful to oppose judicial sentences without defame or offend.”
On the empowerment of women in the judiciary, the minister said: “The empowerment of women in judicial work has priority and the judges have demonstrated their competence to assume judicial and administrative positions.”
The minister revealed that a training course was held for members of the Administrative Prosecutor’s Office to represent the Prosecutor’s Office in disciplinary matters, revealing that women judges will be appointed for the first time in various fields of judicial work.
The Minister of Justice also confirmed that his career in judicial work has exceeded 36 years, indicating that the most difficult decisions he made in his professional life was his resignation from the judiciary to be appointed to the Ministry of Affairs from Parliament to Council Supreme Judiciary.
Regarding the most important cases that he investigated in his judicial and parliamentary career, the minister said: “The issue of important timber smuggling from the port of Alexandria was a difference in my parliamentary work, as well as one of the most prominent cases that was investigated for the plumber’s bribery case. “
