On Wednesday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry confirmed that blatant Turkish practices and interventions in many Arab countries represent the most important emerging threats to Arab national security, and stressed that Egypt will not remain inactive in the face of these ambitions.
During his speech to the Arab Ministerial Committee on Turkish Interventions in the framework of the activities of the 154th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States, Shukri added that Egypt will not stand idly by in the face of Turkish ambitions that they are manifested in northern Iraq, Syria and Libya in particular.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister stressed the need to end foreign interference in Libya, regardless of its origin, and to disarm the militias.
Support Iraq
He expressed Egypt’s support for Iraq in the face of the continuous Turkish attacks on its borders and the measures it takes in the face of these flagrant interventions.
Ahmed Hafez, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, stated that Minister Shukri reviewed the destructive practices of the Turkish ruling regime in various Arab countries during the meeting, in a way that reinforces social and sectarian divisions in the region.
Sinking Libya with mercenaries
He added that it also shed light on some evidence that reflects the extent of the Turkish regime’s blatant interventions in some Arab countries. From facilitating the passage of tens of thousands of terrorists and mercenaries to Syria, pushing thousands of fighters to Libya and attacking the resources of the Arab brothers in Iraq and Libya by signing illegal memorandums of understanding.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman indicated that Cairo emphasized the need for a unified and determined Arab policy to deter the Turkish regime, through greater coordination among Arab countries.
