The works of author Wahid Hamed have been admired by all local and international forums and have won several awards, the last of which was in 2020 where he won the Golden Pyramid Appreciation Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Cairo International Film Festival in his 42nd session.
He began writing short and theatrical stories at the beginning of his literary career, then went on to write for Egyptian Radio, presenting many dramas and series, and from radio to television and cinema, where he presented dozens of films and series.
He also writes political and social articles in the most popular newspapers, and has a wide audience of readers, in addition to supervising the script workshop at the Instituto Superior de Cine for four years, of which he produced a number of the best current screenwriters.
He was born in the village of Bani Quraish, the center of Minya al-Qamh, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt. He is married to journalist Zainab Sweidan, former head of Egyptian television and father of film director Marwan Hamed.
