Swedish police said riots broke out in the southern city of Malmö on Friday, where at least 300 people gathered to protest anti-Islamic activities.
A police spokesman said the protesters threw everything into their hands and set their tires on fire. Earlier today, Yemeni extremists burned a copy of the Koran in Malmö.
“We have not controlled the situation, but we are working hard to control it,” the spokesperson said.
“We see that there is a link between what is happening now and what happened today.”
He added that the demonstrations escalated in the same place where Yemeni extremists burned the Koran.
The Aftonbladet newspaper reported that Malmö witnessed various anti-Islam activities on Friday, including three men kicking a copy of the Quran at each other in a public square.
The newspaper added that anti-Islam protests took place after Rasmus Guludan, leader of the Danish far-right “hard-line” party, was denied permission to attend a meeting in Malmö and was denied entry into the Swedish border.
