A spokesman for the Uzbekistan Professional Football League, Sherzud Rajabov, told reporters after the incident, describing the incident as “unpleasant and sad.”
“The whole of Uzbekistan, the whole football community saw this. Everybody understands that the match was decisive and took place at the Nivci Stadium. After the match, the Nivci fans could not contain their feelings and ran into the stadium,” he said.
Rajabov added: “The use of force against the rulers is unacceptable … and whoever is involved in the incident will be punished, whatever it is.”
