In further proof of the depth of the Turkish intervention in the Libyan crisis, through the injection of mercenaries and weapons, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Saturday that at least 34 minors were killed during the ongoing battles in Libya, and their bodies were returned with another 500 bodies to Syria via Turkey.
This information came after the observatory also revealed that Turkey had transferred some 350 minors from Syria to Libya, to fight in the ranks of Al-Wefaq, adding that a new batch of hundreds of mercenaries are currently in camps. training in Turkey, waiting for the green light to be transferred to Libya.
19 thousand Syrian mercenaries and 10 thousand foreign extremists
The observatory added that Turkey is involved in the transfer of some 19,000 Syrian mercenaries to Libyan lands, in addition to some 10,000 extremists of various nationalities.
It is noteworthy that a US report issued a few days ago reported the presence of thousands of Syrian mercenaries who were sent by Ankara to Libyan lands to fight alongside the Government of National Accord, which reinforces the undermining of security in the interior of the country. and it generates a violent response from Libyans.
The Inspector General of the United States Department of Defense explained in the new report he presented based on information from the United States Command in Africa (AFRICOM), as indicated by the Associated Press the volume of Turkish activities and interventions in Libya, explaining that Ankara sent to Libya at least 5,000 Syrian mercenaries from who worked closely with him in the Syrian war, to help armed militias allied with Al-Wefaq in Tripoli to fight the Libyan army.
Sadat Company
Furthermore, AFRICOM, Syrian mercenaries fighting with the Accord forces, described them as “inexperienced, uneducated and their motives are promises of a large salary.”
He also pointed out that some of them were extremists and militants, and said that the private Turkish military company “Sadat” supervised their training and payment of their salaries.
Notably, Sadat Company founder Adnan Tanri Verdi is a retired Turkish Major General with a strong relationship with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and worked as one of his military advisers.
The report, which monitored the evolution of the crisis in Libya between April and June this year, also mentioned that Turkey has also deployed hundreds of its regular forces in Libyan territories, including technicians and operators of Turkish air defense systems deployed in the west of the country.
Theft and sexual assault
In addition, he warned of the negative effects of the continued presence of Syrian mercenaries on the overall security situation in the country, especially after growing reports of robberies, sexual assaults and misconduct in western regions, which will likely further deteriorate the security situation and will generate a violent response from Libyans.
Turkey continues to provide military support to the Government of National Accord and transferring Syrian mercenaries to Libya to support its forces, in a move that raises doubts about Ankara’s unwillingness to respect the ceasefire agreement announced by the Government of National Accord. and the Libyan Parliament about two weeks ago.
