The private doctor of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that he completed his treatment after contracting the Coronavirus and is in a position to return to exercise his public obligations.
Dr. Sean Conley said the president responded “very well” to treatment and “remains stable.”
Trump later said he could run another virus test on Friday and was hoping to participate in an election event over the weekend.
He had previously announced that he would withdraw from the television debate with Democratic candidate Joe Biden next Thursday.
Trump said “I would not waste my time in a virtual debate.” The move sparked controversy over how and when such discussions would take place in the future.
What’s New in Trump’s State of Health?
In a memo issued by the White House late Thursday, Dr. Conley said Trump had not shown any “signs of advanced disease.”
The memo said that “Saturday will be the 10th day since the virus was diagnosed and I hope the president will return safely to participate in public events at that time.”
And Dr. Conley previously said that if President Trump’s condition continues as it is or improves over the weekend and into Monday, “we will all breathe a sigh of relief.”
Speaking to Fox News on Thursday, Trump said his health is “really good” and expressed his hope to participate in an election event Saturday night in Florida.
Disagree on the debate
The Organizing Committee of the Presidential Debate announced that the Miami Debate will be held on October 15 by remote control to “protect the health and safety of the participants.”
This prompted the president’s decision, who said in a phone call to “Fox Business” that “he is not prepared to sit behind a computer, it is ridiculous.”
While Biden said the president “changes his mind every second” and released his campaign team, Trump “clearly does not want to face questions from voters.”
Trump’s team responded, quoting his campaign manager Bill Stephen, saying the committee’s decision “to accelerate the defense of Joe Biden is pathetic,” adding that Trump would participate in a popular election rally the same day.
Then Biden’s team proposed to postpone the debate that was supposed to take place in Miami until October 22 instead of October 15. The proposal obtained the approval of the two opponents.
Still, Trump’s team said a third face-to-face debate should take place on October 29, just five days before the election.
But Biden’s team said the discussions could only be scheduled on previously agreed dates.
Now it will be difficult to determine what form any discussion between Biden and Trump will take.
The first debating session on September 29 saw insults and boycotts, while the debate between the two vice presidential candidates, Mike Pence and Kamala Harris, was better thought out.
Elections will take place on November 3. Recent polls indicated a slight lead for Biden in the major states that will determine the winner.
6 million people cast their votes in early voting.
What about the White House after the president was injured?
Speaking of his health, Trump told Fox: “I am back because I have a perfect body.”
He said that he has stopped taking most of the treatments but is still taking steroids and will soon undergo another screening test.
Despite the words of his doctor about his absence of symptoms, questions still arise about the origin of the virus that infected the president and about the possibility of transmitting it.
Although the names of many of the people who interacted with the president and found themselves infected with the virus are now known, it is unclear how many people have been screened at the White House, as new security measures have been taken to prevent the virus.
Trump said Thursday that “someone came in and infected people,” but did not elaborate.
A public event held on Sept. 26 to choose Trump as his Supreme Court nominee was talked about as a high possibility of spreading the infection after many attendees were confirmed to be infected.
