The distinctive train 157 “Cairo / Alexandria”, one of the trains from the Sohag accident, has been exposed to two previous accidents on the train tracks, during the last 9 months.
According to official data from the Ministry of Transport and the Railway Authority, the train had two previous accidents, the most recent of which occurred on Friday, when it collided with another train in Sohag governorate, killing 32 and injuring others.
The facts were as follows:
– August 16, 2020:
The distinctive train No. 157 suffered a collision as it was coming from Luxor in the direction of Alexandria, near the town of Al-Uqbiya in the center of Dishna.
December 26, 2020:
The Egyptian National Railways Authority did not make excuses for the delay of some trains in the area between Qena and Luxor stations due to the rear bogie leaving the fourth vehicle of the 157-passenger “Luxor / Alexandria” train running on the tracks. the line hike in the silence of the Qaft station, and that did not result in any injuries.
March 26, 2021:
On Friday, the Sohag governorate witnessed a collision of two railway trains in Al-Sawamou ‘village, Tahta Center, in which 32 people were killed and other people were injured.
The Railway Authority said, in an urgent statement, on the causes of the accident: “Meanwhile, at 11:42 am, the 2011 air-conditioned Aswan / Cairo train passed Traffic Light 709 and collided with the rear of the last wagon. with a 157 train, causing two vehicles to roll over. From the rear of the parked train 157, and the 2011 train tractor and motor car were overturned, causing several injuries and deaths.
