The US embassy in Baghdad condemned the missile attack on its compound in the Green Zone, noting that it resulted in minor damage to the embassy compound “without loss of life.”

In a statement, the embassy called on “all Iraqi political and government leaders to take steps to prevent these attacks and hold those responsible accountable.”

He added: “These types of attacks on diplomatic facilities constitute a violation of international law and a direct attack on the sovereignty of the Iraqi government.”

The government security information cell in Iraq issued a statement on the bombing of the government green zone in the center of the capital Baghdad.

In the statement, he indicated that “a group outside the law launched several rockets in the area,” which includes, in addition to the government headquarters, several foreign embassies.

He added: “The launch area was found to be from the Al-Rasheed camp (south of Baghdad), and the rockets landed inside the residential complex at various residential complexes in Al-Qadisiyah.

He pointed out that “the bombing caused material damage to these buildings and to several civilian vehicles, without human losses.”
