Tunisian Prime Minister Hicham El-Mechichi authorized all governors on Monday to announce a curfew in their regions as of Tuesday.

The latest update from the Tunisian Ministry of Health revealed a new jump in the number of new infections due to the Coronavirus, reaching more than 5,700 new infections between October 13 and 16. And 114 infected people died from the virus during the same period, bringing the total number of deaths in Tunisia from the virus to 626 since last February.

According to the agency, the session addressed in particular the security situation in the country and the events that occurred in the city of Al Shaba following the recent decisions of the Tunisian Football League, and the degree of compliance of citizens with the measures of the curfew.
