Although the Giza Zoo announced this Thursday morning, naming the three new giraffes coming from South Africa, but the giraffe house appeared inside only two giraffes without the presence of the third giraffe, while the atmosphere of the zoo witnessed the confusion and absence of the guardian of the giraffe house. And no official from the Ministry of Agriculture responded to the phone, either those responsible for the park or the Department of Veterinary Services.
Dr Mohamed Rajaei, head of the Central Department of Zoos at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, said this morning that the names of the new giraffes from South Africa were resolved last week and Egyptian and foreign names were chosen, explaining that a one of them was given the name “Farah”, due to it brought joy to the Egyptians and park goers, saying: “Looking at the records that came with giraffes from the country of South Africa, we found that one of them was called“ Sheki ”in its original homeland, and it was resolved because the giraffe got used to it and was found to be a beautiful name. It has “zizou” which is a simple and easy name on the animal’s ear when prompted.
It is noteworthy that the giraffes come from a nature reserve in South Africa and live in an open forest with trees and wild animals, and the environment in Giza Park is strange to them, as well as the voices of the public and the language they hear.
