The first football team of the Al-Ahly club qualified for the semifinals of the Club World Cup in its current version, after beating Al-Duhail, Qatar, with a clean goal.

Al-Ahly had a date with the Bavarian giant Bayern Munich, who won the European Champions League title, in the semifinals of the World Cup next Monday.

Al-Ahly had previously faced Baren Munich at the friendly level in 3 previous matches, the Egyptian champion was able to win the first match with two goals per goal, and lost in the second and third with 2/0 and 2/1.

The Cairo International Stadium witnessed a historic match that brought together Al-Ahly and Bayern Munich for the first time, on December 19, 1977.

The match was at the invitation of the Al-Ahram newspaper to host Bayern Munich in Egypt and play two games against Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

Al-Ahly played the match with a formation consisting of Thabet Al-Batal, Ahmed Abdel-Baqi, Maher Hammam, Mustafa Yunus, Mohsen Saleh, Fathi Mabrouk, Taher Al-Sheikh, Mustafa Abdo, Taher Al-Sheikh, Shatta, Sherif Abdel Moneim and Mahmoud Al-Khatib.

Ikrami Al Shahat, Mukhtar Mukhtar, Abdulaziz Abdel Shafi, Mohammed Amer and Jamal Abdul Hamid participated as alternates.

Al-Ahly’s two goals were scored by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the Al-Ahly club, and Sherif Abdel Moneim.
