Books – Muhammad Nassar:

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, revealed the evolution of the epidemiological situation of the emerging coronavirus in Egypt, warning of the continuous increase in infections during this period.

Abdul Ghaffar said, in televised remarks, that the state has provided a hospital to isolate children and that children under the age of one are vulnerable to infection with the Corona virus because their immune systems are weak.

He noted that diabetics and the immune system are among the groups most vulnerable to infection by the virus, adding that most children show minor symptoms.

The Minister of Higher Education added: “The daily increase in Corona’s infection rate is large, in January and February the situation is very difficult and cases will continue to increase for Corona patients.”

He stressed that Corona’s daily increase in injuries is large, expecting the peak of Corona’s second wave to be next January and can continue until mid-February.

The minister expected that the situation would begin to improve during the second half of February, when injuries are expected to decrease, and these are the expectations of the mathematical table.

He indicated that a hypothetical form was developed to clarify the unannounced number of casualties from Corona, highlighting that the number of cases monitored by the Ministry of Health is much lower than in reality.

He continued that there are scientists who confirmed that over time the virus becomes a seasonal virus, adding that there are 5 mutations of the virus that have occurred in Egypt.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said that what the Corona virus goes through are mutations and variables and does not mean the appearance of a new strain of the disease.

He explained that viral mutations are expected, he continued: Before generating anxiety, several questions must be answered, namely: Does the change in the virus lead to an increase in its spread? Does this change make a difference in the symptoms? and the difference in symptoms leads to an increase in deaths ?, and finally, is this change incompatible with declared vaccines?

The Minister of Higher Education answered previous questions that the observed change in the spine of the virus are just observations that have not yet been proven in scientific research, in addition to that no increase in the number of deaths has been observed despite the rapid spread of infection, adding that the slight change in symptoms has not yet been established whether it was caused by a change in weather or a mutation of the virus.

He stressed that the country had prepared for two months to receive the second wave of the Corona pandemic, noting that 25 university hospitals receive Corona patients.

He indicated that the university hospitals are prepared with 523 intensive care and 413 ventilators, pointing to the provision of sections in these hospitals for the isolation of children with Corona.
