The Egyptian Pyramids team face their rival in the semi-finals of CAF Houria Conakry in a match that will host the Mohammed V Stadium in Morocco.

Pyramids is participating for the first time in the African Confederation after their success in snatching third place last season, but has become one of the leading contenders for the title.

The Egyptian team achieved an impressive career record during the tournament, which started very early in the preliminary round, then the first and second rounds of 32, going through the group stage and then the quarter-finals.

Pyramids won all their away games with a 100% hit rate, which is the number the Egyptian team maintains, until the end of the tournament, as the semi-final and final matches are played in neutral stadiums.

Making history

The Pyramids team expect the African Confederation to be the first tournament in their history, especially after being very close to reaching the semi-finals.

Pyramids also hopes to make it to at least the final match, hoping that the CAF will announce on the new season’s roster that the two finalists will qualify for the CAF Champions League next season.

Egyptian inspiration

The victories that Al-Ahly and Zamalek achieved over Wydad and Al-Raja in the first leg of the semifinals of the African Champions League served as inspiration for the Egyptian third team in Morocco.

Pyramids will not play a Moroccan team, but will play in Morocco against Houria Conakry of Guinea in the same stadium that witnessed the Egyptian victories for Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

The Egyptian team is looking to become the third national team to win the Confederation Cup after Al-Ahly and Zamalek preceded it in 2014 and 2019.
