Dr. Ali Al-Moselhy, Minister of Supply and Domestic Trade, issued Ministerial Directive No. 41 of 2020 on disbursement of masks at a rate of 5% of the value of each replacement for the mandatory supply merchant.
According to the ministerial directive, the two wholesale companies determine the number of masks that are disbursed from the points of sale of the “Jamites” project and consumer complexes, and that the masks are treated like the rest of the commodities “oil and sugar” and that the exchange is mandatory for cards, which include 3 or more people, and in case of disbursement. The card is for more than one supply of rations and all cards are entitled to spend a maximum of two masks, regardless of the number of people.
And the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade decided, earlier this month, to compulsorily spend only one cloth muzzle per month for ration cards, which include 4 or more individuals, while continuing to voluntarily disburse the cards of 3 or fewer individuals, to starting today 1-9-2020.
The Ministry affirmed that this is part of the concern of the State and the Egyptian government for the health and safety of citizens, and given the growing curve of infections due to the Coronavirus (Covid 19), with some citizens currently without masks, and insufficient awareness of the seriousness of this stage of the global epidemic, and beyond. The muzzle has become the first recommendation to prevent and limit the spread of the emerging corona virus.
This is in the interest of the Ministry of Supply to take advantage of the capacity and effectiveness of the ration card to distribute basic and strategic products to the largest number of citizens, since there is a database of ration cards of almost 64 million beneficiaries, in addition that the Ministry has the largest regular and disciplined distribution network through food outlets and consumer complexes. Ensure rapid distribution and access to all parts of the Republic.
