The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a series of new controls and regulations to regulate the matches of clubs and national teams during the next period in light of the presence of the new Corona virus (Covid-19).
According to an official statement published by the African Union on its website, it was decided to increase the club rosters in continental competitions by 10 players, provided the rosters of the teams are open.

“The Emergency Committee of the CAF, to allow the participation of the different teams in the CAF competitions, has a sufficient number of players to participate in the matches, and based on the proposal of the Organizing Committee of the African Cup of Nations, the following decisions:
– For competitions whose regulations dictate the existence of a list of a specific number of players (for example: club competitions, continental tournament finals …): increase the number of players by ten players; (For example, if the regulations dictate a list of 30 players, then the number increases to 40).
For competitions whose regulations allow changing the list of players from one match to another (for example: African Cup of Nations qualifiers, African Cup of Nations qualifiers for women … etc): federations can travel with an unlimited number of players, allowing them to trade any A player who tested positive for the Corona virus.
– After increasing the number of players on the roster, the following rule, which complies with the rules of the game, will apply to all CAF competitions: The team must ensure that there is a roster of at least 11 players (including a goalkeeper) + 4 substitutes to participate in any one match, this is regardless of the number of players who have tested positive for Coronavirus.
